About MindGenie AI
MindGenie AI is a free, browser-based character guessing game. You think of a character — a movie hero, a historical figure, an anime villain, anyone — and a guessing engine we call the Genie asks a short series of yes-or-no style questions until it names who you were thinking of. No account, no download, and no payment is required to play.
Why we built it
The "20 Questions" guessing format has been around for the better part of a century, first as a parlor game, then a radio and TV show, and more recently as browser games like Akinator. We wanted a lightweight, fast-loading version of that format that ran entirely in the browser, worked well on phones, and got a little smarter with every round played — without asking players for an account or any personal information.
How the Genie decides what to ask
Each round starts with a large pool of possible characters. The Genie picks questions designed to split that pool roughly in half based on how previous players have answered the same questions for the same characters, then narrows the field with each answer until one character stands out. Every round also feeds back into the system. When you rate whether the Genie's final guess was correct, that feedback nudges how confidently the engine associates that question with that character the next time someone plays — so the more the game gets played, the sharper its questions get over time.
What we don't do
- We don't require sign-up, login, or any personal information to play a round.

The team
MindGenie AI is built and maintained by a small independent team who work on it outside of day jobs. We treat it as an ongoing project rather than a finished product — questions, character coverage, and the interface all continue to change as more people play.
