Privacy Policy
MindGenie AI ("we," "us," or "the Genie") is a free browser-based game. This policy explains what data is collected when you visit mindgenieai.xyz and why.
What we don't collect
Playing MindGenie AI does not require an account, and we don't ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information to play a round. The character you think of is not linked to any identity. It is not sent to us at all unless you choose to type it in after a wrong guess (see "Ratings and optional corrections" below).
Cookies and analytics
Like most websites, we use a small number of third-party services that may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser:
- Google Analytics — helps us understand overall traffic patterns (e.g. how many people play, which pages are visited). This data is aggregated and not tied to your real-world identity.
- GoatCounter — a lightweight, privacy-focused analytics tool we use for basic visit counts.
- Google AdSense — we display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites. You can learn more about how Google uses this data and manage your ad preferences at Google's Ads Settings.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. You can also disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Doing so may affect how ads are personalized but will not prevent you from playing the game.
Session data
When you play a round, our server tracks a random session ID and your in-progress answers so the Genie can ask the next question and remember where you are in the game. This session data is not linked to any personal identity and is used only to run the round.
Ratings and optional corrections
After the Genie makes a guess, you can tell us whether it was right. If you do, we save your rating (right or wrong), the character the Genie guessed, and the random session ID. If the guess was wrong you can also type who you were thinking of; that is optional, and if you do it is saved the same way. We don't collect your name, email address or any other identifier with these records, so we generally can't look up or delete one person's records on request. We use them to review how well the game performs and to decide which characters and questions to add or improve.
Hosting and fonts
The site's pages are delivered from our web host, and the guessing engine runs on a separate server at a hosting provider (Render). Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Our hosting providers also keep standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamp) for security and troubleshooting.
Children's privacy
MindGenie AI is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site or the services we use change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
