How to Play MindGenie AI

MindGenie AI plays like the classic "20 Questions" game, run by an AI Genie instead of a human. Here's the full rundown of how a round works and how to get the most accurate guess.

The basic loop

  1. Think of any character โ€” a person, fictional hero, villain, celebrity, or historical figure.
  2. Click "Start Playing" to begin a new round.
  3. Answer each question with one of five response types (see below).
  4. Keep answering as the Genie asks more questions and narrows down its guess.
  5. After a series of questions, the Genie reveals who it thinks you were picturing.
  6. Rate whether the guess was right โ€” this feedback helps the Genie improve for the next player.
  7. Click "Play Again" to start a new round with a different character in mind.

The five answer types

Real answers aren't always a clean yes or no, so the Genie gives you five options for every question:

โœ”Yes
โœ–No
๐Ÿค”Probably
๐ŸคจProbably Not
โ“Not Sure

Each of these carries a different weight behind the scenes โ€” "Yes" and "No" are treated as strong signals, while "Probably" and "Probably Not" nudge the Genie's confidence without fully ruling characters in or out. "Not Sure" is genuinely neutral. Use the keyboard shortcuts 1โ€“5 to answer faster once you're used to the layout.

Tips for a sharper guess

Why the first round of the day can feel slow

Our guessing engine runs on a server that goes to sleep when no one's actively playing. The very first round after a period of inactivity can take up to 30 seconds to "wake up" the server โ€” every round after that loads quickly. This only ever happens once per idle period, not on every question.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Put it into practice

Think of a character and start a round now.
