Frequently Asked Questions

Is MindGenie AI free to play?

Yes. The game is completely free, with no sign-up, download, or in-game purchases required.

How accurate is MindGenie AI?

It depends on how well-known the character is. Popular characters are usually guessed correctly within 10–20 questions, while obscure or very similar characters can trip up the Genie.

How many questions does the Genie ask?

Usually 10–20 questions, depending on your answers.

Can I play MindGenie AI on my phone?

Yes. The game runs entirely in the browser and is fully playable on phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

What kinds of characters can I think of?

Anyone real or fictional works — movie and TV characters, anime and manga characters, video game characters, or historical figures. If you can describe them with a series of yes-or-no traits, the Genie can usually take a guess. Browse movies, TV shows, anime, video games, and history for ideas by category.

What happens if the Genie guesses wrong?

You can tell it the guess was wrong right on the results screen. That feedback doesn't change your current round, but it helps sharpen the questions asked to the next player who thinks of the same character.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up, login, or personal information required at any point — just open the page and start a round.

A few more questions

Is my data stored or shared?

MindGenie AI only keeps the answers from your current round in order to make its guess, plus anonymous, aggregate stats like how often a given character gets guessed correctly. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.

Why did the loading take a few seconds the first time?

The Genie's backend spins down after periods of inactivity to save resources, so the very first round of the day can take a few extra seconds to "wake up." Every round after that starts instantly.

Can I suggest a character to add?

Yes — use the Contact page to send suggestions. New characters get added in batches; check the blog for update notes.

About the Genie

MindGenie AI is a free browser-based guessing game inspired by classic "20 questions" style mind-reading games. Think of any character — real, fictional, historical, or from pop culture — and the Genie will ask you a short series of simple yes-or-no style questions to work out who you're thinking of.

Under the hood, each answer narrows down a large pool of possible characters by comparing the traits you've confirmed or ruled out against traits already known about thousands of characters. The more distinctive a character is — a unique power, a rare job, a specific era — the fewer questions it usually takes. Characters who share a lot of traits with someone more famous, like a supporting cast member or a minor villain, tend to take longer and occasionally stump the Genie entirely.

Every round also feeds back into the system: when players confirm or correct a guess, that signal helps the Genie ask sharper questions the next time someone thinks of the same character.

How to Play
  1. Think of any character — a person, fictional hero, villain, celebrity, or historical figure — and hold them firmly in mind before you start.
  2. Click "Start Playing" to begin a new round.
  3. Answer each question with Yes, No, Probably, Probably not, or I'm not sure, based only on what's actually true of the character you're thinking of.
  4. After a series of questions — usually 10 to 20 — the Genie reveals who it thinks you were picturing.
  5. Rate whether the guess was correct, then play again with a harder or more obscure pick.

A couple of tips: answer honestly rather than trying to "trick" the Genie — inconsistent answers usually just slow down the guess rather than beat it. And if you get stuck on the same character every round, try switching categories below for a fresh challenge.
